The Best of the Full coverage foundations

Thursday 24 December 2015

Us beauty lovers are always striving for the best! We're forever on the lookout for the newer, better, more lust-worthy products. Therefore I've decided to make a 'The Best Of' series to showcase to you all my personal favourite and in my opinion the best make up products.

I couldn't have started this series any other way than with full coverage foundations. Imagine all the foundations you can think of that promise full coverage and I guarantee I've either tried, tested or researched. I'm obsessed! Forever searching in the hope that I find 'The One'. However I need to block out the idealist side of me and show you what's real, the full coverage foundations that I love and wear most regularly.

1. Estee Lauder double wear stay in place make up
This gem has been awarded foundation of the year 2 years in a row and it is clear why. It glides on the skin smoothly and instantly covers without needing a second layer to build up and has a matte almost airbrushed finish. The best thing about double wear as the name implies, is it stays on literally all day & night, I've even wore it to the gym. Plus the wide range of shades allows everyone to find their perfect colour. The only downfall of this product is how quick drying & matte it is, drier skin types may want to opt for double wear light instead, however prepping the skin with moisturiser and a hydrating primer should do the trick. 100% recommend!
-I wear colour Ecru without tan & Dawn with tan.
-Price £29.50

2. Mac studio fix fluid spf 15 foundation

A top pick from make up artists & beautyaholics alike. Mac is seen as the holy grail of full coverage foundations because its used for stage makeup and it does not disappoint. This has been my foundation love since I was 18, it completely colour corrects and covers without feeling heavy due to it being liquid based. Stays on a very long time, perfect for nights out or under hot stage lights. However I would say the colour range seems to be better for slightly tanned skin as I haven't found a colour to match me when I'm not tanned yet, slightly yellow, warmer colours.
- I wear NW20
- Price £22

3. Smashbox Studio Skin

The most recent addition to my foundation hall of fame. Smashbox is photography make up and this product will leave you looking photo ready all day & all night. Without SPF so photo's with a flash won't be a problem as it will prevent the dreaded 'white face' look. It's matte but hydrating so feels light on the skin and no drying. You seriously need to try this foundation!
- I wear 1.1 without a tan and 2.2. with tan
- Price £29

4. Loreal true match foundation
This is a little liquid miracle in a bottle. So smoothing and extremely buildable I wear a lot of this product without it looking cakey. Brilliant range of colours living up to it's name. However I find the staying power of this isn't that great you definitely need to set it with a heavier powder for it to last. Perfect for beauty on a budget.
-I wear colour w3
-Price £9.99

5. No7 Beautifully Matte foundation
Boots own brand No7 have created this full coverage beauty. Completely covering and mattifying. Hypo-allergenic so great for people with sensitive skin. Wide range of colours. Stays on throughout the day without powder. Great price. Only problem I had with this product was it felt quite heavy on the skin and the colours weren't yellow enough for me but a great alternative to some higher end products!
-I wear warm beige with a tan and warm ivory without.
-Price £13.50

Thank you for reading, I hope the first post in the series was helpful, comments are welcome :)

Take care of your hair with Ojon

Tuesday 22 December 2015
I wanted to share with you all this incredible brand Ojon, advanced hair treatments from nature. All infused with the special Ojon oil to repair the damage and replenish the moisture back into dull hair. Boots have recently started stocking this delightful range and I'm going to tell you about my Ojon hair routine & the ones I feel have completely transformed my hair!

Ojon damage reverse 4 piece discovery set
This is the perfect minature size set to introduce you to the brand you get all the essentials and will see the difference once its finished. For more in depth on the products I use, Keep Reading...

Wash- Ojon volume advance shampoo
This dazzling duo left my hair silky and sparkling, I've honestly never had such soft hair since using this shampoo & conditioner. I always opt for volumizing products hoping to get that extra lift and I saw a slight difference however I think this product mainly helps with hair damage rather than volume. This smell very simple however I believe that's because Ojon do not put harsh chemicals in the products to make them smell nice. If you're looking to reverse the damage you've done with heat or colour this is definitely the product for you!
-Price shampoo, £18.50 & conditioner £20.50

Treatment- Ojon restorative hair treatment plus

This treatment is what made me fall in love with Ojon. Its a paste that turns into oil at the heat of your hands, you can either put some on the ends or slather it all over from root to end as a hair masque (my personal favourite). A top tip from me is to leave it on over night then rinse it out in the morning, it tries to return your hair to its virgin state before all the damage. Your hair feels light & silky smooth. Its a bit on the pricey side but if you can only get one thing & your serious about hair its a definite. Plus one pot will last you forever!
- Price £34,50

Finish- Ojon damage reverse instant restorative hair serum

The most well known product is the restorative serum. An intense oil used for ends or all over before rinsing as a treatment. A little is a lot with this product but the results on split ends are incredible, I rub a little onto my ends everyday and before I blowdry for shine and protection.
-Price £24.50

The Best of the Highlighters

Monday 14 December 2015

Highlighters

Highlighting and the strobing technique have become HUGE this year and I am eternally grateful that 2015 is the year of the glow! I am obsessed with capturing that dewy, shiny, glowy & iridescent sheen we all crave so much. That's why I am going to unveil my knowledge to you and slightly try to justify my elaborate highlighter collection with this post.

1. Mac mineralize skin finish- Soft and gentle
This. Highlighter. Will. Change. Your. Life. Seriously hands down the best one I have ever used, I died went to highlight heaven and the angels conjured up this gold dust for me. So pigmented, brush it on lightly for a subtle glow or build the product up and go for serious strobing. A flattering champagne colour that works with all make up looks and most skin tones. You basically need this.
-Price £24.50

2. Benefit Whatts Up
Don't let the cutesy packaging fool you this product means business. A wax formula that glides on for an intense champagne gold highlight. A sheen more than a glitter. It stays on all day and doesn't budge your make up. I wear on night out under a powder to give cheeks an extra pop
-Price £24.50

3. MUA undress your skin highlighting powder
Cheap but very very cheerful, these powder highlighters from MUA are extremely pigmented and long lasting, incredible prodcuts for a mere £3! There only downfall is the colours are quite bright rather than being a natural highlight but if you're a make up fanatic like me you'll love the colour.
-Price £3

4. Bobbi Brown shimmer brick- Beige

A mix of colours to create the perfect natural glow. Top tip is to use different sections on the eyes as shimmery eyeshadows. This products a little on the pricey side but worth investing as they last forever, I'll probably be a little old highlighted granny by the time I hit pan on this beauty.
-Price £33

5. Benefit High Beam
Definitely the best of the liquid highlighters. Creates a pearly pink iridescent glow. Brush on dots then pat in gently with fingers to ensure the product doesn't budge your make up. Looks beautiful on brow bone & cupids bow also great dotted under foundation as an illuminator.
-Price £19.50
6. Make up revolution highlighter palette- radiance
Okay please don't hate me for posting 6 instead of 5 but I just had to include this beautiful palette from make up revolution. Three neutral highlight shades will suit so many skin tones and different looks and they stay on the skin for so long. The best part is the price, such an incredible bargain, so I suggest you head to the nearest super drug now!
-Price £8

Thank you so much for reading dolls, I love nothing more than gushing to you about my favourite make up! There's something about talking about highlighters that makes me go all mushy (And the rest of the female population right), there like the notebook of make up products!
